As a response to seeing a niche in the market after I had my own child, I explored the idea of creating a children’s brand that focused on three core concepts: practicality, elegance, and neutral tones. What was being offered on the market was either very fancy yet impractical day-to-day wear for babies and toddlers, or extremely function yet un-sophisticated options.

With that in mind, I created the brand ‘Cahier’; named for the French word for notebook - a place where children both learn and explore. The brand has some classic traditional elements, exhibited in the turn-of-the-century inspired logo, and clothing details, but through a modern lense (ex: zippers, organic cotton).

I designed two types of clothing that is meant to not just be purchased by the parents but serve as a desirable gift.

  • Series of Zip-Up Pyjamas: When your baby is in its first months, often the most practical thing to dress it in is pyjamas. However, you still want your child to look put together, in something that feels more like an outfit. With that in mind, the zip-up allows the baby to be easily changed with the pointelle fabric, bow, or pocket detail give it a more elegant look.

  • JetSet Cardigan: Meant for older babies or toddlers these cardigans have a knit sticthed line drawing of one of 5 emblematic monuments of the world’s most iconic cities.
